Enfield 7th place in London's first Virtual Youth Games!
With lockdown hitting in March this year the whole London Youth Games thought that this years event would be a washout. However with the move to push physical activity online came the news of the first ever London Youth Virtual Games and with Active Enfield's enthusiasm to keep pushing sport and local opportunities through our socials we just new we had to get behind it and encourage as many of our Borough as possible to get involved.
The event start on Monday 8th June and saw 3 challenges per week posted on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with a deadline of Friday lunchtime to submit your scores, this saw a number of adaptable and inclusive challenges based on LYG sports to be sent out for 4 weeks and culminate on what would have been the Open Games Finals Weekend. Challenges included;
- Netball 5 shot challenge
- Judo sit out challenge
- Hockey Indian dribble challenge
- Boccia throwing accuracy challenge
There was also a bonus relay challenge that meant as many individuals as possible needed to run a mile for their Borough, which Team Enfield victoriously came 1st place in woohoo!
The event was a huge success with over 40,000 entries across the 33 boroughs taking part and Camden were crowned the winners of the first ever London Youth Virtual Games, with Enfield placing a very respectable 7th place.
Thank you to everyone that took part, we hope you continue to take part in the London Youth Games, details of next years event will be shown on the website ASAP.
